Atlético Madrid and Bayern Munich face off in a high-stakes UEFA Champions League encounter on Tuesday at the Metropolitano, with both clubs eager to climb the league table. Bayern Munich enters the match sitting 15th with five points from their opening three games, while Diego Simeone's Atlético side is positioned 17th with four points.

The German visitors arrive in Madrid looking to return to winning ways in Europe following consecutive draws against Viking FK and Arsenal. Assistant coach Aaron Danks will once again direct the squad from the touchline in the absence of head coach Vincent Kompany, who remains sidelined due to illness.

Despite missing key personnel, Bayern received a major double injury boost ahead of kick-off. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and winger Michael Olise both traveled with the squad after overcoming their respective fitness concerns. Olise sustained a right knee problem during a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the German Klassiker, but scans and a return to group training cleared the French winger for duty.

"There's good news: [Olise] joined us this morning, as did Manuel Neuer," Danks stated regarding the players' availability. "We've had a quick chat with them to see how they're getting on. Things are looking good, and we'll see tomorrow whether they're ready."

Even with the returns of Neuer and Olise, the Bavarian side remains without several notable players, including Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, Serge Gnabry, and Ismael Saibari. Despite these ongoing absences, Danks emphasized that the team's tactical identity and attacking philosophy will remain unchanged.

"The team's identity won't change under me; the decisions are now in my hands," Danks asserted. "We want to play attacking football, we want to have the ball and make the most of our chances. We need to hold our heads high, stick out our chest and simply rise to the challenge... Finishing in the top eight – that's our goal."

On the home side, Atlético Madrid enters the European contest buoyed by strong domestic form. Simeone's squad currently sits second in La Liga following a 2-0 victory over Levante over the weekend. In the Champions League, Atlético aims to build on their four accumulated points and use their home advantage at the Metropolitano to secure a vital win.

Match officials for the fixture include referee François Letexier, assisted on the pitch by Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni. Jerome Brisard will serve as the Video Assistant Referee, supported by assistant VAR Piotr Lasyk, while Ruddy Buquet acts as the fourth official.
