The fifth edition of the Moon trail in Bourgoin-Jallieu is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 31, bringing nighttime running and Halloween-themed excitement to local woodland trails. Organized by the Running club Bourgoin-Jallieu, the event challenges participants to navigate forest paths illuminated only by the moon and headlamps. According to the club's president and head coach, Laurent Péculier, runners face the formidable challenge of a steep elevation gain, particularly during the final climb of the course.

Ahead of the 2026 event, organizers have introduced several updates and new features for the participants. Speaking about the outlook for the upcoming competition, Péculier noted that the race is shaping up well. Event organizers anticipate a higher turnout this year compared to previous years, marking a rebound from the plateau in registration numbers experienced during the third and fourth editions.

While runners prepare to tackle the demanding terrain under the cover of darkness, community initiatives are simultaneously connecting the youth of Bourgoin-Jallieu with neighboring areas. Located about 40 kilometers apart, the Les Taillis social center in Bron and the Léo Lagrange Hub in Bourgoin-Jallieu recently launched a collaborative youth project designed to foster teamwork and connection between adolescents from both cities.

The youth exchange program was conceived by Sirine Abed, youth coordinator at the Les Taillis social center, alongside David Lajoinie, manager of the Léo Lagrange Hub in Bourgoin-Jallieu. Abed explained that the initiative was built to provide an opportunity for a week of meetings centered on cohesion, sharing, and collaboration among teenagers from the two participating organizations.

These dual developments highlight vibrant community engagement in Bourgoin-Jallieu, spanning both competitive sports events and regional social programs. As the community looks forward to the autumn running event and ongoing youth exchanges, local organizations continue to promote active participation and regional cooperation.

Further details regarding race registration, specific course modifications, and schedules for the upcoming Moon trail are expected to be announced by the running club as the October date approaches. Meanwhile, participants in the youth collaboration programs continue to build connections across the region.
