Macaulay Gillesphey and Adam Phillips scored as the Bantams kept a fifth straight clean sheet under Michael Duff.

Bradford City secured a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2013 after defeating League One rival Peterborough United 2-0 at the University of Bradford Stadium. Goals from Macaulay Gillesphey and Adam Phillips propelled the home team into the tournament's final eight, sparking celebrations among the home crowd as the club continued its memorable cup run.

Gillesphey broke the deadlock during the first half with a well-timed volley that put Bradford ahead. The strike was familiar territory for the defender, who also scored against Peterborough when the two clubs met at Valley Parade in third-tier action back in August. Phillips later sealed the victory by converting the second goal, cementing Bradford's progression and putting the tie completely out of reach.

The shutout extended an exceptional defensive record for Bradford manager Michael Duff since taking charge of the squad. Under Duff's guidance, the Bantams have not conceded a single goal in five consecutive matches across all competitions. Arranged in a structured 3-4-2-1 formation, the team consistently disrupted Peterborough's build-up and showcased the tactical discipline that has defined Duff's early tenure.

Peterborough United faced an uphill battle entering the tie, particularly due to the absence of their primary offensive threat. Striker Harry Leonard, the Carabao Cup's leading goalscorer, was forced to miss the match due to a suspension. Without Leonard leading the frontline, manager Robbie Savage organized his side in a 4-2-3-1 setup looking to test Bradford on the counterattack.

Despite being shorthanded in attack, Peterborough created opportunities on either side of halftime. Their best chance to alter the game's momentum arrived when Ethan Williams struck the post with a dangerous effort. However, Savage's squad could not find the finishing touch required to breach Bradford's defensive block, leaving them scoreless at the final whistle.

The result extends a strong run of head-to-head home dominance for Bradford over Peterborough. The Bantams had already registered 2-0 victories over the Posh at this venue in both February and August. Bradford entered the cup fixture in sturdy form, having navigated four straight league matches without defeat, which included scoreless draws against Oxford United and Burton Albion, a 2-0 win over Stevenage, and a 4-0 triumph at Rotherham United in the EFL Trophy.

For Peterborough, the cup exit highlighted an ongoing spell of mixed results under Savage. The Posh had recorded two wins, two draws, and one loss across their preceding five fixtures in all competitions, scoring nine goals and allowing nine. That stretch included a heavy 4-1 loss against Huddersfield, followed by a positive 3-1 victory against Leicester City and a 1-1 draw away at Bromley.

With the final whistle confirming Bradford's progression, the club celebrated reaching the League Cup quarter-finals for the first time in over a decade. While Peterborough must turn their focus toward finding consistency in league play, Michael Duff's side heads into the next round powered by a resolute defensive system that remains unscored upon.
