Buenos Aires Province Launches Tax Debt Relief Plan With Discounts
The provincial tax agency has introduced a special payment scheme offering up to 40% off for taxpayers who settle overdue obligations before the end of the year.
The government of the province of Buenos Aires launched a special tax regularization plan on Monday, offering discounts of up to 40% on various provincial taxes. Managed by the Revenue Agency of the Province of Buenos Aires (ARBA), the initiative runs through December 31 and aims to help families, businesses, and corporations clean up their financial records.
The program covers taxes on Gross Income, Stamps, Basic and Complementary Real Estate, Automotive, and Sports Boats. It applies to overdue or accrued obligations up through December 31, 2025—including those currently in prejudicial, judicial, or fiscal audit stages—as well as most obligations incurred during 2026, with the exception of the 2026 Stamp Tax.
ARBA Executive Director Cristian Girard explained that the measure seeks to provide a practical tool for taxpayers facing a difficult economic climate. Girard emphasized that clearing past debt is a strict prerequisite for accessing future tax benefits next year, stating, "The objective is that those who have pending obligations have a concrete tool to regularize their situation and can access the benefits provided for those who comply, in an adverse economic context and with greater difficulties for the payment of taxes."
The relief scheme features a sliding scale of benefits that decreases as the calendar advances. Between October 26 and November 13, taxpayers can receive a 40% discount for cash payments, a 20% discount for three installments, and a 15% discount for six installments. Subsequent windows reduce these percentages progressively, down to a 30% discount for cash payments made between December 12 and December 31.
In the La Plata region alone, the program targets over 235,000 taxpayers with outstanding liabilities exceeding 1.3 billion pesos. Regional data shows that La Plata concentrates the highest amount, with nearly 189,000 taxpayers owing over 1 billion pesos, followed by smaller totals across Berisso, Ensenada, Magdalena, and Brandsen.
Agency officials noted that while taxpayers requiring extended financing can still access standard ARBA payment plans, the extraordinary bonuses are strictly tied to the new schedule. Furthermore, compliance tracking will play a major role in 2027, when individuals and companies with a clean fiscal history and no recent reliance on moratoria will receive deeper rewards for sustained compliance.
