The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a food safety warning regarding a popular pantry product available online and in retail stores across several Canadian provinces. Consumers are being urged to check their pantries for a specific freeze-dried meal that poses potential health risks for individuals with certain food allergies.

The affected item is the SLY brand Freeze-dried Potato Bourguignon, sold in 145-gram packages. According to the official recall notice, the product contains undeclared pea protein, which was not listed on the packaging label. This oversight can trigger severe allergic reactions in consumers who are sensitive or allergic to peas.

The recalled product bears the Universal Product Code (UPC) 6 28719 84004 7. It is further identified by lot number 280726 and a best-before date of July 30, 2031. The item was manufactured and distributed by SLY Foods Inc.

Distribution of the implicated potato bourguignon reached across multiple Canadian jurisdictions. Retail customers and online buyers in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and the Yukon territory may have purchased the product.

Federal food safety officials have outlined clear instructions for anyone who has the item in their possession. Consumers are advised not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected freeze-dried food. Instead, customers should either throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase.

The CFIA continues to monitor the recall process to ensure that the unapproved allergen is properly handled and that all remaining stock is removed from circulation. No illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the consumption of this product have been formally reported at this time.
