Club Tijuana secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Santos Laguna on October 26, 2026, at Estadio Caliente, putting an end to their opponents' impressive six-game winning streak in the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament. The home side utilized their local advantage to climb up the standings in a crucial fixture for both clubs.

The border team took the initiative early in the match under the direction of manager Sebastián 'Loco' Abreu. Francisco González opened the scoring in the 13th minute, firing the ball into the net following an assist from Adonis Preciado. Shortly after, Ignacio Rivero extended the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute, giving Tijuana a comfortable advantage heading into halftime.

Santos Laguna attempted a comeback in the second half under coach Renato Paiva. Esteban Lozano provided a spark for the visiting side in the 66th minute, scoring a right-footed shot from the center of the area off a pass from Ezequiel Bullaude to narrow the deficit to 2-1.

However, Tijuana quickly extinguished any hopes of a turnaround. Just three minutes after conceding, Ignacio Rivero netted his second goal of the night from a direct free kick in the 69th minute, restoring the two-goal cushion for the hosts. Adonis Preciado capped off the scoring in the 72nd minute by converting a long pass from Alan Vega during a counterattack to make it 4-1.

Despite entering the match with strong momentum and a recent run of victories, Santos Laguna struggled to contain Tijuana's aggressive offense on the artificial turf. The visitors also had to manage without defender Efraín Orona, who was unavailable due to a grade 2 muscle injury in his left biceps femoris.

With this comprehensive win, Club Tijuana elevated their points total to 20, moving into eighth place in the league table and securing their position within the Liguilla qualification spots. Meanwhile, Santos Laguna remained with 19 points, dropping to tenth place and complicating their path as the regular tournament nears its conclusion.
