Company Co-Owned by Senator Flávio Bolsonaro Fined Over Undelivered Helmet
A Brazilian court ordered the firm to issue a refund and pay moral damages after a consumer failed to receive a purchased item.
A Rio de Janeiro court has ordered Bravo Grafeno, a company co-owned by Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, to refund a consumer and pay moral damages after failing to deliver a helmet purchased online in April 2025. The 1st Civil Special Court of Nilópolis determined that the firm must return the 629.76 Brazilian reals paid for the product, alongside 1,500 reals in compensation for moral damages.
Because the company did not settle the judicial obligation voluntarily, authorities seized funds through a bank garnishment to guarantee payment. According to court records, the legal proceeding concluded on February 19, 2026, following the retention of the owed amount. The transaction involved a graphite-colored helmet intended as a birthday gift for the buyer's son, which never arrived at the designated address within the announced deadline.
The case gained attention during the final stretch of the 2026 presidential election, in which Flávio Bolsonaro is contesting a runoff against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. While the senator is listed among the company's partners and the brand utilizes the image of former President Jair Bolsonaro for promotion, the legal penalty was imposed directly on the corporate entity rather than on Flávio Bolsonaro as an individual.
Court documents show that Bravo Grafeno failed to present a defense during the proceedings despite being duly notified. Under applicable legal rules, the lack of contestation led the court to accept the facts presented by the consumer as true. Judge Elaine Cristina de Pinho recognized the service failure and adjusted the requested compensation down from the 40 minimum wages sought by the buyer to the final awarded sum of 1,500 reals.
The enforcement phase required judicial intervention because the company did not disburse the funds spontaneously. Substitute Judge Alessandra Ferreira Mattos Aleixo ordered the closure of the case in February 2026 once the funds were successfully withheld and made available to the consumer. The records contained no proof that the physical helmet was ever delivered, meaning the dispute was resolved entirely through financial restitution and the mandated damages.
Bravo Grafeno Tecnologia e Inovação Ltda. was established in June 2024 with a registered capital of 100,000 reals, aiming to commercialize items leveraging graphene for industrial and mechanical applications. Alongside Flávio Bolsonaro, the enterprise's registry includes his brother Carlos Bolsonaro, as well as partners Pedro Luiz Dias Leite, Fernando Nascimento Pessoa, and Paulo Giordano Bernardi. Although former President Jair Bolsonaro helped launch the firm and continues to support its promotion, he does not feature in the most recent corporate registry consulted.
