Former Reality Star Melissa Rycroft Arrested for DWI in Texas

The former Dancing with the Stars champion faces new charges in Southlake following an alleged collision while serving probation for a previous offense.

Melissa Rycroft Strickland, a 43-year-old former reality television personality and Dancing with the Stars champion, was arrested in Southlake, Texas, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. According to jail records from Tarrant County, the arrest occurred following an incident over the Halloween weekend, marking her second reported DWI arrest in approximately 13 months.

Authorities reported that the latest incident involved a collision with a Southlake Fire Department ambulance that was stopped at a stop sign on South Peytonville Avenue and Chimney Works Drive. Police stated that another vehicle struck the emergency vehicle and left the scene before officers later tracked down Rycroft and identified her as the alleged driver. No injuries were reported from the collision.

Following her arrest, Rycroft was booked into the Tarrant County Corrections Center in Fort Worth and faces three charges: driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license, and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, with sources also noting a vehicle collision charge. A combined bond of $9,000 was established by authorities.

The new arrest comes less than three months after Rycroft pleaded guilty in August 2026 to a separate DWI case stemming from a September 2025 incident. In that earlier case, Southlake police responded to a single-vehicle crash in which her black Cadillac Escalade struck a tree after witnesses reported erratic driving. She received 20 months of probation, 36 hours of community service, financial penalties totaling around $2,087, and mandatory substance-abuse evaluations, along with the installation of a camera-equipped ignition interlock device and a strict prohibition against alcohol consumption.

Because the recent arrest occurred while Rycroft was actively serving her 20-month probation sentence, legal experts note it could prompt a judicial review regarding potential probation violations. However, an official probation-revocation order or new conviction has not yet been confirmed, and an arrest does not automatically establish guilt or revoke probation.

Rycroft's attorney, Bret Martin, declined to comment when contacted by media outlets regarding the latest charges. Following her 2025 arrest, Martin had emphasized the presumption of innocence, and Rycroft subsequently addressed her personal struggles on social media, expressing a desire to move forward.

Rycroft first rose to national prominence as a contestant on Jason Mesnick's 2009 season of The Bachelor, where she was initially proposed to before the engagement was publicly ended. A former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, she went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and ultimately won the program's all-star season in 2012 alongside professional partner Tony Dovolani. She is married with three children.
