The Indian men's cricket team captured the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya after defeating archrival Pakistan by 19 runs in the tournament final. The high-stakes championship clash delivered consecutive Asian Games cricket titles for India and capped an aggressive final-day push that elevated the nation to fourth place in the overall continental medal standings.

Batting first on a rain-affected pitch, India compiled a commanding total of 211 for six in their allotted 20 overs. The effort was propelled by an explosive half-century from Abhishek Sharma, who struck 61 runs from 28 deliveries, alongside an unbeaten 51 from Tilak Varma off 22 balls. Shivam Dube contributed valuable late-innings hitting with 27 off 15 deliveries, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Suryakumar Yadav were also credited for India's aggressive batting approach.

Pakistan mounted a disciplined chase, led by a fighting knock of 96 runs from 51 deliveries by Hasan Nawaz. However, Pakistan fell short against an adaptable Indian bowling deployment, finishing at 192 for six in 20 overs. India utilized a spin-heavy strategy with Jasprit Bumrah acting as the lone specialist fast bowler. Spinners Axar Patel and Washington Sundar took two wickets apiece, while Dube contributed two wickets with his medium pace to stifle the chase.

The 19-run triumph marked India's second consecutive men's Asian Games cricket gold medal, following their championship in Hangzhou. The result also completed a clean sweep in cricket for the delegation, as the Indian women's team had previously claimed gold earlier in the Games. Furthermore, the victory extended India's dominance in the shortest format of the sport, representing their 15th victory in the last 18 Twenty20 meetings between the two sides.

The cricket gold was part of a major surge for India on the final day of competition, during which the contingent earned nine medals, including five golds. In freestyle wrestling, Aman Sehrawat won the men's 57-kilogram division by defeating Han Chong-song of North Korea 11-7. Golfer Pranavi Urs secured India's first-ever individual gold in women's golf, while Kumkum Anil Mohod captured gold in the women's individual recurve archery final. The Indian men's hockey team also retained its title by defeating Malaysia 5-1.

India concluded its Asian Games campaign with a final haul of 85 medals, comprising 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze. While Uzbekistan also earned 21 gold medals, India secured fourth place in the country rankings by virtue of winning more silver medals, holding a 27 to 25 edge over the Central Asian nation. Uzbekistan placed fifth with 70 total medals, ahead of Iran and Thailand.

The 85-medal tally represents India's second-best performance in Asian Games history, trailing only the record 106 medals captured in Hangzhou. At the top of the table, China retained first place with 169 gold medals and 341 total medals, extending a run at the summit that began in 1982. Host nation Japan finished second with 269 medals, while South Korea finished third with 150.
