ITV Pulls Daytime Shows Off Air Following Covent Garden Power Outage

Popular broadcasts including Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women experienced sudden cancellations due to a local power failure at the London studio.

UK broadcaster ITV was forced to abruptly pull several of its most popular daytime television programs from the live schedule following an overnight power cut in the surrounding area of its Covent Garden studio. The unexpected technical failure impacted three landmark shows: Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women, leaving viewers without their usual morning lineup.

Addressing the disruption on social media, host Lorraine Kelly explained the situation to her followers while traveling to work. She noted that while her own program could not air live as planned, fans could still tune in to an extended edition of Good Morning Britain.

Although initial estimates suggested power would be restored around 11 o'clock to allow This Morning to proceed, the network ultimately implemented alternative scheduling. This Morning was replaced with a "best bits" episode featuring previously aired segments, including appearances by comedian Jo Brand and culinary contributor Tilly Ramsay.

Similarly, Loose Women was removed from its regular time slot and substituted with a retrospective episode of Tipping Point. The panel had originally planned to discuss a social media poll regarding whether giving cash is considered a lazy gift.

Despite the abrupt schedule changes, ITV representatives stated that standard broadcasting procedures remain in place, noting that schedules are normally confirmed weeks in advance but remain subject to operational adjustments. Network officials indicated that normal programming would resume as quickly as possible once technical issues at the London facility are fully resolved.

Fans expressed their disappointment on social media over the missed live broadcasts, particularly missing scheduled interviews such as Lorraine's intended chat with Sharleen Spiteri to mark the 30th anniversary of the band Texas's hit album White On Blonde. However, hosts assured viewers that postponed guest appearances and normal routines would return to the airwaves shortly.
