The defending champion New York Knicks rallied from a 19-point second-half deficit to defeat the Chicago Bulls 133-127 at the United Center on Wednesday night. All-NBA point guard Jalen Brunson propelled the comeback, scoring a game-high 38 points to help New York earn its second straight victory on the second night of a back-to-back set.

The contest featured intense swings in momentum before a sold-out Chicago crowd that included former Bulls star Derrick Rose and his son, P.J. Rose. Over the course of the battle, the Eastern Conference rivals traded the upper hand through 18 lead changes and 14 ties. Chicago seized early control by closing the first half on an 11-3 run, punctuated by a buzzer-beating half-court shot from their backup point guard to take a 62-56 lead into the intermission.

Chicago extended that advantage dramatically in the third quarter behind an offensive barrage from Norman Powell. The shooting guard scored 19 points in the third period alone, pacing the Bulls with a team-high 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Powell's hot hand powered the Bulls to a lead as large as 19 points midway through the third quarter, putting New York under immense pressure.

Rather than folding after their Tuesday night victory over Detroit, the Knicks countered with a 22-7 run to close the third quarter, pulling within 96-90 heading into the fourth. Contributions from Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Jordan Clarkson, and Tyler Kolek helped New York reclaim the lead just three minutes into the final period, setting up a dramatic finish.

Brunson completely took over during crunch time, scoring 14 of his 38 points over the final seven minutes of regulation. A 7-0 Knicks spurt established a 114-109 New York lead midway through the frame. While Chicago responded with an 11-3 burst to trim the margin to 130-127 with 8.7 seconds left, Brunson and Anunoby iced the game at the free-throw line by converting three of four attempts.

Despite dropping the contest, Chicago saw a historic showing from rookie forward Caleb Wilson. The No. 4 overall draft pick recorded 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in 38 minutes. With that stat line, Wilson became just the fourth rookie in NBA history to tally at least 15 points, one block, and one steal across each of his first five professional appearances.

Seven Bulls players scored in double figures, including 17 points from Matas Buzelis and a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double from starting center Jalen Smith. Under head coach Tiago Splitter, the rebuilding Bulls fell to 1-4 on the season, while head coach Mike Brown and the Knicks improved to 2-3 after shaking off a difficult 0-3 start to the campaign.
