Inter Miami CF salvaged a dramatic 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati at Nu Stadium in Florida on Wednesday night, relying on a 90th-minute equalizer from late substitute Riquelme Fillipi to avoid a home defeat. Looking to bounce back from a recent setback against the New York Red Bulls, Miami entered Matchday 33 aiming to consolidate their postseason standing, while Cincinnati arrived fighting to secure a playoff berth.

The opening half unfolded with extreme caution, as both sides prioritized defensive stability and tactical discipline over attacking risk. Scoring opportunities remained rare through the first 45 minutes, with neither club able to break through the opposing backline. The opening frame concluded scoreless, although frustration surfaced just before the break when Lionel Messi received a yellow card in the 44th minute.

Miami manager made two adjustments at halftime, introducing Telasco Segovia and Ian Fray in place of Matías Galarza and Sergio Reguilón. The moves sparked greater possession and urgency for the hosts, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 61st minute. Casemiro delivered a precise pass to Luis Suarez, who struck the ball off the crossbar and into the net to give Miami a 1-0 advantage.

Despite falling behind, Cincinnati maintained composure and completely altered the momentum during the final stretch of regulation. In the 80th minute, Kenji Mboma Dem leveled the contest after receiving a pass from Evander. Just six minutes later, the visitors capitalized on Miami's defensive fatigue when Samuel Gidi converted an assist from substitute Tyler Barlow, shocking the home crowd and putting Cincinnati ahead 2-1.

Confronting an impending loss, Miami threw their remaining attacking resources forward. Fillipi, who had come off the bench in the 83rd minute to replace Germán Berterame, became the hero in the 90th minute. The former Palmeiras winger collected a cross from Rodrigo De Paul inside a crowded penalty area, bypassed two defenders, and slotted a composed finish into the bottom right corner.

The dramatic equalizer marked Fillipi's first goal for Inter Miami and the first of his professional career in just his fifth appearance for the club. 'First, I want to thank God for everything He has done in my life, I am very happy for this moment,' Fillipi said after the match. 'It was not the result we wanted, but we are working to be better each game. Seeking one point at home was not the objective, we always play to win, but I was able to help with a late goal to prevent defeat.'

Beyond the offensive drama, Miami's defensive discipline faced scrutiny after accumulating several late cautions, with Segovia and Suarez receiving yellow cards in stoppage time. Messi endured a relatively quiet outing, struggling to find space and seeing a second-half attempt blocked by Cincinnati defenders, while the visitors benefited from fresh legs provided by Barlow and T. Anunga to exploit transitions.

The draw leaves Inter Miami in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, having slipped behind the New England Revolution, while FC Cincinnati remains in eighth position within the play-in zone. Miami continues its push toward the postseason by visiting New England on Sunday before concluding the regular season at home against Charlotte on November 7. Cincinnati will host the Philadelphia Union on Saturday before ending their campaign against Nashville SC.
