The Milwaukee Brewers are making a historic postseason run to the World Series, bringing excitement to southeast Wisconsin and captivating baseball fans across the community. The Fall Classic has brought out major local traditions, including the first-ever World Series appearance for the beloved Famous Racing Sausages during Game 1 on Friday.

The iconic racing characters—featuring the Bratwurst, Polish Sausage, Italian Sausage, Hot Dog, and Chorizo—have become a staple of Milwaukee baseball culture. Alongside the on-field entertainment, concession data from provider Delaware North reveals that fans attending Games 1 and 2 at American Family Field purchased more than 300,000 food and beverage items, translating to nearly four items per person.

Among the top concession items were more than 30,000 Racing Sausages sold at the stands. Bratwurst led the sausage category with 11,000 units sold, closely followed by 10,000 hot dogs. Fans also consumed large quantities of peanuts, pretzels, cheese curds, and specialized postseason creations like the Brat Rangoon and Walk-Off Burger.

The postseason fever also transformed personal milestones for local residents. Sam and Emily Pankow turned their Saturday wedding reception on Oct. 24 into a massive World Series watch party as the Brewers faced the Tampa Rays in Game 2. Having booked their wedding venue a year in advance, the couple decided to adapt when their favorite team advanced to the Fall Classic.

Guests at the wedding watched the game on a large screen set up on the dance floor while wearing Brewers jerseys. Former Brewers pitcher Corey Knebel made a surprise appearance, and when the team secured a 5-4 victory, the DJ played Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days." The bride, Emily Pankow, has deep ties to the team, having spent six seasons working for the organization and participating as a mascot in the Racing the Sausages event.

Several of Emily's former colleagues from the entertainment crew were in attendance to celebrate the wedding. "The Brew Crew shows up strong. We're all still really good friends," she said.

The Brewers' World Series appearance also prompted the newlyweds to adjust their honeymoon itinerary. Instead of their original plans, they purchased tickets to Game 5 in Tampa, Florida, hoping to catch the action live if the series extends. Game 3 is scheduled for Monday night, Oct. 26, with the Brewers holding a 2-0 lead in the series.
