CF Monterrey secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Club Puebla on Wednesday at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc during the 13th round of the Apertura 2026 Liga MX tournament. The visiting side took control of the match early in the first half, scoring three times within a span of 17 minutes to virtually seal the outcome before halftime.

The offensive onslaught began in the 17th minute when Diego Rossi connected on a close-range header from a cross by Lucas Ocampos, beating Puebla goalkeeper Ricardo Gutiérrez. Monterrey doubled its lead in the 31st minute following a set piece. After a corner kick from Óliver Torres and a subsequent header by Víctor Guzmán, Hugo Cuypers pounced on the loose ball inside the area and fired it into the left corner.

Just three minutes later, Ocampos added a third goal for the visitors in the 34th minute with a right-footed strike into the corner, capping off a blistering offensive sequence that left the home defense struggling to respond. Manager Matías Almeyda praised his team's performance after the final whistle. "I am happy with the victory and the performance. It is not easy to score four goals," Almeyda stated. "The goals happened because we played as a team, and then the finishes in all the goals mark the quality of each player."

Despite making several tactical substitutions in the second half, Monterrey maintained its attacking pressure. Forward Roberto de la Rosa needed just four minutes after entering the match to find the back of the net, scoring in the 61st minute with a precise right-footed shot following an assist from Torres.

Puebla managed to salvage a goal in the 66th minute when Facundo Almada capitalized on a set piece, receiving a pass from Juan Pablo Vargas to score with a left-footed shot from the center of the box. However, the effort served only as consolation as the home side remained unable to close the significant gap established by the visitors.

With this result, Monterrey climbs to 20 points in the standings, holding the seventh position as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Chivas. Meanwhile, Club Puebla, managed by Gerardo Espinoza, stays on 16 points and occupies the 13th place in the championship table, looking to rebound in their next match against Atlas.
