More Than 4.3 Million Tubes of Toothpaste Recalled Nationwide
The nationwide recall affects popular adult and children's toothpaste brands due to manufacturing deviations.
More than 4.3 million tubes of toothpaste have been recalled nationwide across the United States, impacting a wide array of adult and children's products. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported that the voluntary recall was initiated by the manufacturer, Pritam International Private Limited, on September 10. The FDA subsequently classified the action as a Class II recall on October 19.
The affected merchandise includes products sold under the Brush Buddies, evo, and ARU brands. Among the recalled items are several popular children's character and novelty varieties featuring franchises such as Barbie, Hot Wheels, My Little Pony, and Crayola Silly Scents. Additionally, the recall covers unique ice cream-flavored formulations alongside standard whitening, sensitive, and cavity-protection options.
The FDA assigned a Class II designation to the recall, indicating that the use of or exposure to the impacted products may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects. The agency noted that the likelihood of serious adverse health consequences remains remote for consumers who have used the items.
According to regulatory filings, the reason behind the massive recall stems from deviations from current good manufacturing practices. These manufacturing infractions represent unplanned or unapproved departures from established regulations, standard operating procedures, or product specifications during the production, testing, or storage phases.
Pritam International Private Limited, based in India, manufactured the items, while Ashtel Studios Inc. distributed them throughout the United States. While the items were sold nationwide, federal regulators did not specify individual retailers or states where consumers may have purchased them.
Consumers who have purchased any of the seventeen impacted toothpaste varieties are advised to check the specific lot numbers and expiration dates printed on their tubes against the official FDA listing. Individuals who possess the recalled products should stop using them immediately and can throw them away or contact the manufacturer or retailer regarding potential returns and refunds.
