The Moroccan government presented its initial 2027 budget project, allocating 62,000 billion dirhams, approximately 5.6 billion euros, toward fulfilling key social campaign promises. Announced by the administration led by Fatima Ezzahra Mansouri, the financial plan projects a Gross Domestic Product growth rate of 3.7 percent for the year 2027 while aiming to keep the budgetary deficit restricted to 3 percent.

Minister of Economy and Finance Fouzi Lekjaa introduced the budget proposal before both chambers of Parliament. This marks his first appearance outlining a social package initiative under the newly invested government, which combines the Liberal Authenticity and Modernity Party, the National Independence Party, and socialist factions toward an agenda centered on expanded social policies.

Lekjaa emphasized that the budget seeks to maximize available resources amidst international uncertainties, rising conflict expenses, protectionist shifts, and supply chain disruptions. "Our responsibility is garantizar that the commitments of the Government translate into a tangible improvement of the purchasing power of citizens, a more equitable social protection, and a territorial development that reduces disparities," he stated, translating his address into American English objectives.

Among the primary highlights is a progressive income tax reform taking effect in January 2027, featuring a complete tax exemption for monthly salaries falling below 10,000 dirhams, roughly 910 euros. The social package additionally entails incremental boosts to pensions, widened financial aid for widows initially impacting 431,000 women, utility bill waivers for lower-income households, and specialized job training programs for 100,000 young individuals.

Substantial funding enhancements are designated for national healthcare and education sectors. The healthcare division is slated to receive 45.4 billion dirhams, amounting to 4.1 billion euros, alongside the creation of 8,000 job vacancies. Meanwhile, educational resources will total 121.3 billion dirhams, equivalent to 11 billion euros, and facilitate nearly 17,874 new employment openings designed to broaden primary schooling access and combat dropout rates.

Addressing foreign policy and national sovereignty during his presentation, Lekjaa reaffirmed that the Western Sahara dispute remains a core pillar of state action. He praised national defense achievements under King Mohammed VI and noted that recent United Nations resolutions uphold Morocco's autonomy proposal as the foundational path toward resolving the territorial status of the former Spanish colony.

The budget framework simultaneously introduces structural efforts to lower basic food prices by minimizing intermediary overhead costs. With implementation scheduled to progress through the coming months, state officials project that these comprehensive fiscal and social adjustments will effectively reinforce household stability and stimulate regional development across the country.
