Portuguese Singer Leandro Reports Family Legal Dispute Over Minor Son
The artist has publicly addressed a custody conflict involving allegations of theft and parental alienation.
Portuguese singer Leandro recently took to social media to share details of a complex legal battle involving his 13-year-old son, Simão. The artist, who has been embroiled in a custody dispute with his former partner, Sury Cunha, expressed significant emotional distress, stating that he has not seen his son since June 24.
The conflict reportedly intensified this summer following Cunha's relocation to Costa da Caparica. Leandro, who resides in Odivelas, alleges that he began noticing household items missing. He claims that after questioning his son, he discovered the teenager was taking belongings, such as video game controllers, from his home.
Leandro further alleged that these items were being sold at second-hand stores. He expressed concern that the teenager could not have completed these transactions alone, suggesting that an adult must have been involved in the process. The singer has requested that the court conduct an investigation into these sales to uncover the full extent of the situation.
In his public statement, the musician accused his former partner of failing to address the teenager's behavior and of engaging in parental alienation. Leandro claimed that his son was transferred to a new school in the Costa da Caparica area without his prior knowledge or authorization, a move he says has further complicated their shared custody arrangement.
The singer also referenced past legal issues, specifically a previous accusation of domestic violence brought by Cunha, for which he stated he was proven innocent. He emphasized that he is currently avoiding direct contact with his former partner to prevent further instability, preferring to let the judicial system resolve the current custody impasse.
Leandro concluded his statement with an emotional plea for the courts to expedite the proceedings. He expressed a strong desire to reconnect with his son and hopes to reach a resolution that would allow him to spend the upcoming holiday season with the teenager.
