Real Madrid continued their flawless start to the UEFA Champions League season on Wednesday night with a dominant 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Spanish powerhouse controlled the pace for much of the evening, capitalizing on key defensive lapses by the visitors to extend their winning run in Europe to three matches.

The match remained tightly contested through most of the first half as Leipzig tested the Madrid backline on the counterattack. Christopher Nkunku squandered a golden scoring opportunity in the 41st minute when his close-range effort was turned away by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. That missed chance proved costly just moments later.

Right before halftime, Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute by pouncing on a loose ball after goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt failed to properly clear an Arda Güler shot. The opening goal shifted the momentum entirely in favor of the hosts, who dominated possession and controlled the tempo after the interval.

Real Madrid doubled their lead shortly after the restart when Arda Güler tapped in a header from Kylian Mbappé in the 52nd minute. Mbappé later added a brilliant goal of his own in the 83rd minute to put the game out of reach. Although Tidiam Gomis briefly responded with a consolation strike for Leipzig two minutes later, former Leipzig player Yan Diomande capped off the scoring with a stunning volley in the 87th minute.

The comprehensive victory provides a massive confidence boost for José Mourinho's squad as they turn their attention toward the domestic schedule. Real Madrid currently sits strong in La Liga following a 4-1 win over Sevilla, positioning themselves six points behind league leaders Barcelona ahead of the season's first El Clásico.

Conversely, RB Leipzig arrived in Madrid mired in a difficult stretch of form. The German side entered the fixture following a heavy 6-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and continued a challenging run of European away matches, struggling to contain Madrid's explosive attacking options throughout the second half.

With the three points secured, Real Madrid solidifies their standing in the Champions League league phase while managing player fitness ahead of Sunday's crucial Camp Nou visit. Mourinho utilized his bench strategically, giving valuable rest to key contributors while allowing substitutes like Diomande and Brahim Díaz to make an immediate impact.
