The American French Film Festival has officially kicked off its milestone 30th year, bringing a wide array of cinematic works to an enthusiastic audience in the United States. Presented and produced by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, the event serves as a major cultural bridge between two continents with deep historical ties. Festival organizers noted that the event features 60 films, shorts, and series, showcasing the breadth of French cinema while offering a platform for cross-border artistic collaboration.

Among the highlights of this year's festival is the opening night screening of 'In Waves,' an animated feature directed by French-Vietnamese animator Phuong Mai Nguyen based on an American graphic novel. In addition to industry panels and workshops, the festival continues its tradition of hosting free morning screenings for local high school students in a packed theater, creating what organizers describe as a magical experience for younger audiences discovering international perspectives.

In the business world, Forbes recently released its third-annual ranking of America's Dream Employers for 2027, highlighting 500 companies nationwide after surveying over 10,000 college students and more than 142,000 workers. Among the top-ranked companies are three based in Louisiana. The Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System led the state's entries at 19th place, followed by New Orleans-based LCMC Health at 85th, and Lamar Advertising Company of Baton Rouge at 108th.

Meanwhile, the sports world is reacting to severe struggles within the Dallas Cowboys organization following a heartbreaking 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals. After squandering a 14-point fourth-quarter lead at AT&T Stadium, owner Jerry Jones faced immediate scrutiny as his distraught reaction went viral. The defeat dropped the Cowboys further into a turbulent stretch under Jones' leadership.

The aftermath of the loss prompted harsh criticism from former NFL stars Jarvis Landry and Leonard Fournette during a podcast appearance. Landry urged Jones to strip the organization down to the studs and fire everyone in charge, questioning how a team paying quarterback Dak Prescott massive sums could fall to a rebuilding opponent. Fournette echoed those sentiments by declaring that 'America's team is dead and gone' and suggesting that the quarterback pack his bags.

Despite boasting high-powered offensive personnel under coordinator Klayton Adams, the Cowboys have struggled significantly on defense under coordinator Christian Parker, earning the league's worst defensive impact score this season. With head coach Brian Schottenheimer attempting to steer the team following a difficult prior record, fans and former players alike are questioning the franchise's trajectory as the season progresses.
