Reports Link Late Madrid Tenant to Real Estate Firm
Newly revealed corporate records indicate that Maricarmen, whose eviction sparked protests, previously served as an administrator for a property investment company.
Commercial registry documents show that Maricarmen, the Madrid resident whose eviction and subsequent passing last October triggered protests in the Puerta del Sol plaza, previously held administrative and board roles in a real estate investment company.
According to reports from OKDiario based on Mercantile Registry records, she served as a sole administrator and board member for JINUR S.A., a company that spent decades purchasing residential properties for rental exploitation.
Records indicate that she acted as deputy secretary of the board of directors for the firm. The company's corporate purpose included investments in real estate, the exploitation of properties through leases, and the development and subdivision of plots of land.
Publications such as La Gaceta noted that her past corporate involvement contrasts with her public portrayal by leftist groups and the government of Pedro Sánchez as a vulnerable pensioner facing severe economic hardship.
Before becoming a prominent figure in debates surrounding housing laws, she was appointed as a board member of JINUR S.A. on July 1, 1994, during a universal shareholders meeting.
Corporate filings show that her tenure as deputy secretary concluded shortly thereafter, when the board of directors agreed to accept her resignation on July 1, 1995.
The disclosure has drawn renewed attention to the broader national debate over housing policies, rental markets, and the socioeconomic backgrounds of figures who become central to legislative disputes in Spain.
