Scotia Global Asset Management and Lysander Funds Launch New Exchange-Traded Funds
Financial institutions expand their investment offerings with new asset allocation and systematic ETFs listed on Canadian exchanges.
Scotia Global Asset Management and Lysander Funds Limited announced the launch of new exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on October 26, 2026, expanding investment choices for retail and institutional investors. The recent rollouts introduce multi-asset portfolios, systematic equity strategies, and specialized Canadian equity exposure available for trading on Canadian stock exchanges.
Scotia Global Asset Management introduced a new lineup of four Scotia asset allocation ETFs, which are designed to provide investors with a diversified, professionally managed portfolio through a single low-cost solution. These funds began trading on Cboe Canada following the completion of their initial unit offerings. The suite includes conservative, balanced, and growth options that invest primarily in Scotia index ETFs to achieve exposure across Canadian, US, international, and emerging markets, with fixed-income components included in select profiles.
The multi-asset portfolios are overseen by Scotia's Multi-Asset Management team, which managed more than $150 billion in assets as of April 2026. To mark the introduction, Scotia Global Asset Management announced it will temporarily waive management fees and certain other expenses for each of the new asset allocation ETFs until October 31, 2027, targeting a management expense ratio of 0% during that period before regular fees of 0.15% take effect.
Alongside the asset allocation funds, Scotia also launched three Dynamic systematic ETFs targeting large-capitalization companies in Canada, the US, and international markets. These funds utilize a quantitative, multi-factor investment process to balance risk and return while seeking long-term capital growth. Units of these systematic funds commenced trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Sub-advisors appointed for the Dynamic systematic ETFs include Hillsdale Investment Management for the Canadian and US equity funds, and State Street Global Advisors Ltd. for the international equity offering. The funds complement traditional fundamental active strategies by applying a distinct multi-factor approach to equity investing.
In a separate announcement on the same day, Lysander Funds Limited launched an ETF series for the Triasima Lysander Canadian Equity Fund. Trading under the ticker symbol LTCE on the Toronto Stock Exchange, the fund aims to achieve long-term capital growth through investments primarily in medium- and large-capitalization Canadian equities.
Richard Usher-Jones, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lysander, emphasized the value of the Canadian market in a statement. "Canada features numerous strong and globally competitive businesses, and we believe investors continue to look for growth opportunities within the Canadian equity market," Usher-Jones stated, adding that the new series combines professional management with the transparency of the ETF structure.
The Triasima Lysander fund is sub-advised by Montreal-based Triasima Portfolio Management Inc., known for its proprietary three-pillar approach to constructing equity portfolios. Both financial organizations noted that investments in mutual funds and ETFs involve potential commissions, trailing commissions, management fees, and other charges, and advised investors to review prospectuses carefully prior to investing.
