Fan-favorite actor Stephanie March is officially returning to "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" to reprise her iconic role as Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot. March will make her long-awaited comeback during the ninth episode of the long-running procedural drama's 28th season, which is scheduled to air on December 3.

Having appeared in more than 100 episodes throughout her tenure, March initially served as a series regular from Season 2 through Season 4 and into the early episodes of Season 5. Her character famously had to fake her own death and enter the witness protection program before making multiple subsequent returns as a recurring character and guest star.

Prior to this upcoming appearance, March's most recent stint on the flagship series occurred during Season 19 in 2018. Beyond her work on "SVU," she also headlined the short-lived 2006 spinoff series "Conviction," where her character mentored a new generation of assistant district attorneys.

Outside of the Dick Wolf universe, March has built a diverse acting resume with prominent film and television credits. Her notable appearances include Ricky Gervais' 2009 comedy film "The Invention of Lying," the 2017 independent drama "Who We Are Now," the mockumentary "The Social Ones," and Ava DuVernay's 2023 feature film "Origin."

The 28th season of "Law & Order: SVU" premiered on October 8, delivering strong viewership numbers that marked a 21% increase among viewers aged 18 to 49 compared to the previous season. The historic program is led by star Mariska Hargitay, who serves as an executive producer alongside creator Dick Wolf, Michele Fazekas, Kenneth Brown, Rebecca McGill, Anastasia Puglisi, and Peter Jankowski.

The current cast of the hit NBC series also features Ice-T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, Aimé Donna Kelly, and Corey Cott. Production is handled by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment, with episodes airing on Thursday nights and streaming the following day on Peacock.
