Tickets for the newly named Sony Championship Hawaiʻi are officially on sale, offering golf fans a chance to secure admission for the upcoming PGA Tour Champions event. Scheduled to take place from January 11 through 16, 2027, the tournament will be hosted at the iconic Waiʻalae Country Club in Honolulu.

The transition to a PGA Tour Champions event follows the PGA Tour pulling the traditional Sony Open earlier in the year. After those developments, state officials worked alongside PGA and Sony representatives to ensure professional golf maintained its long-standing presence in the islands. The tournament has a rich history spanning 60 years at the same location.

"I think what I've gathered so far in my short time here in Hawaiʻi is it means everything to this community," tournament director Travis Steiner said. "The impact, what it's been charitably, the 60 years this tournament's been around Hawaiʻi is phenomenal, not many professional golf tournaments have had that longstanding relationship at one particular golf course, at one location."

The upcoming event will feature 78 professional golfers competing for a $3 million purse. Confirmed participants include former world number ones Ernie Els and Vijay Singh, alongside multiple major winners and 2007 Sony Open champion Paul Goydos. Pro-Am events are scheduled for January 12 and 13, with official competition rounds running from January 14 through 16.

Organizers have introduced an inclusive ticket structure designed to appeal to local fans and visitors alike. Pricing ranges from $30 for the Wednesday Pro-Am and $40 for standard tournament days, up to $100 for a weekly grounds pass. Premium Welo Club Pro-Am and hospitality tickets are priced between $275 and $290 per day.

To ensure broad community access, tournament organizers announced that admission will be entirely free for children aged 15 and under when accompanied by an adult, as well as for active-duty and retired military members and their dependents. Additionally, ticket proceeds will directly benefit local charities, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 pledged by the tour and its partners to area non-profits.

Global sports marketing agency IMG has been appointed as the tournament operator, utilizing its extensive experience in running international golf events. Meanwhile, golf enthusiasts looking to get closer to the action are also being invited to join the tournament team through various volunteer committees spanning admissions, gallery management, and parking.
