Valencia CF Secures New Investment and Protects Young Star Otorbi
LaLiga president Javier Tebas praises a new major investment deal, while the club moves swiftly to secure its teenage winger's future amid Premier League interest.
Valencia CF has experienced a flurry of major developments both in its corporate structure and its player roster. The Spanish club recently welcomed a significant financial boost with the entry of Pitchwise Holdings as a new shareholder, an operation that has drawn high praise from LaLiga leadership.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas publicly lauded the partnership, describing the entry of the consortium as a very positive development for both the club and the city of Valencia. The transaction involves Pitchwise Holdings acquiring 42% of the club's equity in a deal that values the institution at 1.25 billion euros.
According to Tebas, the alliance introduces elite global investors and partners who possess vast experience in sports management. He emphasized that the move highlights the financial health and potential of the club's assets, which include its men's and women's teams as well as the new stadium project.
Tebas also expressed ongoing confidence in Peter Lim, noting that the transition represents a decisive step in the leadership handled by Kiat Lim. Kiat Lim remains president while Meriton retains its majority stake, having successfully secured funding for the Nou Mestalla since taking charge in 2025.
Meanwhile, on the sporting front, Valencia has taken decisive action to protect one of its brightest young talents. The club responded swiftly after learning that English side Liverpool was prepared to trigger the 30 million euro release clause in the contract of 19-year-old winger David Otorbi.
To counter the potential departure, Valencia immediately activated a three-year contract extension option tied to the player reaching specific first-team appearance milestones. This maneuver successfully tied Otorbi to the Mestalla until 2031 while simultaneously doubling his release clause to 60 million euros.
Otorbi, who was born in the El Cabanyal neighborhood of Valencia to Nigerian parents, has been part of the club's academy since 2019. He made history by becoming Valencia's youngest-ever debutant in January 2024 during a Copa del Rey match against Cartagena at just 16 years and two months old.
Despite attracting serious attention and scouting interest from English clubs such as Liverpool and Newcastle United, Otorbi's camp has maintained that his immediate priority remains securing playing time under manager Javier Aguirre at Valencia.
