The WNBA Finals shifted to Atlanta for a crucial Game 3 matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries, with the series tied 1-1 after the opening games in San Francisco. While the teams prepared for action on the court at State Farm Arena, heightened security measures drew widespread attention concerning the attendance of former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom.

State Farm Arena and WNBA officials arranged for Kanter Freedom to watch the game from a private luxury suite rather than his originally purchased courtside seats. Arena officials stated that the decision was made following concerns he expressed regarding his personal safety. According to the venue, the private suite included additional security and a state police officer assigned at his request.

Kanter Freedom posted a video on social media depicting a phone call with an NBA security officer discussing the seating change. During the call, the security representative noted that the suite was the only available option for his safety and the security of fans and players. Kanter Freedom publicly objected to the move, asserting that he wished to sit in the seats he bought.

The former NBA player's appearance at the venue follows multiple recent controversies involving the league, including his ejection from a Chicago Sky game earlier in the season and his recent declarations regarding league policies. The WNBA recently reiterated in a letter to lawmakers that only women are eligible to play in the league, addressing attempts by Kanter Freedom and another former player to enter the WNBA draft.

On the court, the series remains tightly contested as the Valkyries look to capture an away victory. Golden State player Kaila Charles drew pregame attention for her arrival outfit at State Farm Arena, showcasing a burgundy top, patterned skirt, and tall boots as the team stepped into a loud environment for their first road game of the Finals.

Meanwhile, basketball fans across the United States are also engaging with standard professional basketball markets and promotional platforms as the NBA regular season approaches. Platforms like Kalshi and Underdog have rolled out introductory offers tied to the upcoming slate of NBA games, featuring marquee matchups such as the Los Angeles Lakers facing the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks meeting the Houston Rockets.
