Actress Zazie Beetz is expecting her first child with her husband, actor and screenwriter David Rysdahl. The Emmy-nominated star revealed her baby bump on Tuesday, October 20, at the New York City premiere of her upcoming Apple TV crime series, "Nocturne."

Beetz, 35, attended the red-carpet event alongside 39-year-old Rysdahl, who lovingly placed a hand on her belly. Publications reported that she wore a striped two-piece outfit from designer Maximilian Raynor's spring 2027 collection. The couple's pregnancy announcement follows similar red-carpet reveals by other prominent actresses in recent years.

The couple first met at an acting workshop and began dating in 2014 before marrying in Germany in 2023. Alongside their relationship, they have established a professional partnership, appearing together in projects such as "Dead Pigs," "Nine Days," and an episode of "Black Mirror." They also co-founded the production company Sleepy Poppy.

Through their production company, both Beetz and Rysdahl serve as executive producers on "Nocturne." Apple credits Beetz through Sleepy Poppy and lists Rysdahl directly among the show's executive producers. The pregnancy announcement did not include a specific due date or the baby's sex.

Beetz has previously expressed a strong desire to start a family. In a 2022 interview, she shared that she had experienced a strong calling toward motherhood since she was very young, while also discussing an active interest in midwifery and women's health.

Outside of her upcoming series, Beetz is widely recognized for her breakout role as Van on FX's "Atlanta," which earned her an Emmy nomination. Her extensive film credits also feature prominent roles in blockbuster films such as "Deadpool 2," "Joker," and the Netflix western "The Harder They Fall."

In her latest television project, "Nocturne," a 10-episode crime drama adapted from Lars Kepler's novel "The Sandman," Beetz portrays FBI agent Saga Bauer. The series is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through Christmas Day.
