Amber Glenn Overcomes Wardrobe Malfunction on DWTS Disney Night
The Olympic figure skater triumphed over a mid-dance mishap during her Hercules-themed routine on Dancing with the Stars.
Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn experienced a memorable wardrobe malfunction during Disney Night on Dancing with the Stars, but quickly recovered to finish her routine without missing a beat. Performing a quickstep to "A Star is Born" from Hercules alongside professional partner Pasha Pashkov, Glenn wore a gold chest-plate top paired with a flowing white cape. During a key movement in the choreography, the fabric flew directly into her face before smoothly falling back into place.
Despite the unexpected interruption, Glenn powered through the rest of the performance. The judges awarded the pair 34 out of 40 points for the energetic routine. Guest judge Cynthia Erivo and Carrie Ann Inaba each awarded an 8, while Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli handed out 9s. The judges also praised her strength and commended the performance as a strong opening for the evening.
The routine incorporated a unique twist, with both Glenn and Pashkov portraying Hercules and a role reversal that put Glenn in the lead. According to Carrie Ann Inaba, this marked the first time a woman had led a man during a routine in the history of the show. Before taking the stage, Pashkov noted the change, telling Glenn that he would take the backseat and hand over the reins of power.
Glenn expressed that she wanted the performance to reflect her personal growth and confidence. Inspired by the training arc in Hercules, she aimed to embody the hero. Reflecting on her athletic build, Glenn shared that she used to feel intimidated by her muscles out of concern that she lacked grace. However, she embraced her strength for the routine, stating ahead of the performance that she was ready to show her partner who the real Hercules was in their partnership.
The episode featured competition among several remaining celebrity contestants, including Maura Higgins, Tatyana Ali, Julia Stiles, Connor Wood, Ezra Frech, Jenna Dewan, and Harry Shum Jr. In addition to their individual routines, Glenn joined Team Slaytopia for a group performance set to "Zoo" from Zootopia 2, which earned a score of 36 out of 40 from the judges. They competed against Team Wildcats, which ultimately won the group round with a perfect score.
Disney Night also featured high scores for other couples, including Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Dewan, who both reached the top of the leaderboard. Based on cumulative scores from the entire season, Shum and Jenna Johnson secured immunity for the upcoming week's dance-off round. At the end of the evening, Julia Stiles was eliminated from the competition alongside her partner Ezra Sosa.
Dancing with the Stars will continue its season with a new episode scheduled for Grammy Night. The competition remains fierce as the remaining couples continue to narrow down the roster with each passing week.
