Apple Prepares iOS 27.2 Release With New Features and Bug Fixes
The upcoming software update brings expanded language support for Siri AI, user profiles in the Apple TV app, and new capabilities across several native applications.
Apple has distributed the Release Candidate build of iOS 27.2 to developers and public beta testers, with an official public launch anticipated before the end of October. The mid-cycle software refresh introduces a variety of quality-of-life enhancements, user interface tweaks, and security refinements designed to improve daily device interaction across eligible iPhone models.
A major highlight of the update is the expansion of the revamped Siri AI suite, which will now support five additional languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. While language support is growing globally, tech publications report differing details regarding regional rollouts and beta limitations, particularly concerning language availability across European Union markets and other international regions.
The Messages application receives contextual intelligence features through Suggested Actions. When analyzing incoming conversations, the app automatically offers inline tasks, such as turning scheduling requests into Calendar appointments or setting targeted reminders. This feature allows devices to parse text context to help users manage daily schedules more efficiently.
Group FaceTime calls gain Dual Capture capabilities on supported flagship iPhones. This functionality enables participants to stream video feeds simultaneously from both the front TrueDepth camera and the rear ultra-wide lens, letting users showcase their physical surroundings while maintaining visual presence. Meanwhile, the Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad introduces independent viewing profiles, allowing different household members to maintain isolated watchlists and personalized recommendations.
Additional refinements include a redesigned Up Next queue in Apple Podcasts, which splits content into separate sections for new episodes and ongoing playback. The Phone app introduces anniversary reminders tied to call contexts, and the Home app gains automation triggers tailored for compatible smart door locks, such as automatic locking features after a door is closed. A new black-and-white icon for Apple Music is also part of the aesthetic updates.
Discrepancies emerged among reports regarding specific features included in the final deployment. While some early beta trackers highlighted a major redesign of the Health app scheduled for the update, other industry sources indicated that the Health app redesign was pulled from this particular build and may arrive in a subsequent software version later in the year.
Alongside the mobile software update, Apple is rolling out macOS 27.2, which brings Siri AI to M-series Macs in regions like the European Union alongside stability and security patches. Users with eligible devices can expect over-the-air installation prompts in their system settings once the final versions officially release.
