Casio Expands G-Shock Portfolio With New Analog 2500 Series
The Japanese watchmaker has introduced nine new analog models across the GAC-2500 and GMC-2500 lines, drawing design inspiration from the original 1983 DW-5000C.
Casio Computer Co. Ltd. has unveiled nine new watch models under its newly expanded G-Shock 2500 series, bringing a fully analog display to an iconic shape that honors the brand's original 1983 DW-5000C. Announced globally on October 22, the lineup comprises the resin-focused GAC-2500 series and the metal-accented GMC-2500 series, with availability scheduled to begin in November at select retailers and official online stores.
The new timepieces adapt the historical square silhouette into a softer, rounded octagonal case design equipped with continuous curves. The collection has already generated widespread interest among watch enthusiasts across the internet, who have noted design parallels to luxury Swiss timepieces due to the curved octagonal bezel and integrated structural lines.
Central to the new series is the introduction of a "Multi-Mission" date window positioned at the 3 o'clock mark. This functional display handles traditional calendar duties, automatically adjusting through 2099 via a full auto-calendar, while also shifting to show elapsed stopwatch minutes during timing operations.
Additional performance features include a small seconds subdial located at the 9 o'clock position, which features a power-saving second-hand stop function to help extend battery longevity. Casio has also incorporated a magnetic hand-holding structure to enhance shock resistance, alongside a 1-second stopwatch capable of measuring up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds.
The collection is divided into distinct tiers based on materials and finish. The entry-level GAC-2500 resin models are offered in black, green, white, and a vibrant yellow, priced around $145 or 20,900 yen. Moving up, the GMC-2500 metal-accented models feature brass dials with sunray finishes and are priced between $280 and $300, or roughly 37,400 to 39,600 yen depending on the specific colorway and gold ion-plated bezel options.
At the top of the range sit the GMC-2500D stainless-steel bracelet models, featuring a black or blue dial, retailing for approximately $350 or 49,500 yen. The steel variants weigh 138 grams and accommodate wrist sizes from 150mm to 205mm, whereas the lighter resin versions weigh between 47 and 68 grams and fit wrist measurements ranging from 145mm to 215mm.
All models maintain standard G-Shock durability standards, providing 200-meter water resistance, mineral glass protection, and an amber LED light with an afterglow function. Shermeen Greenmun, Vice President of Timepieces at Casio America, stated that the new lineup reflects a growing client demand for purposeful and progressive timepieces that stay true to the brand's celebrated design signatures.
Alongside the global rollout, parent company updates highlight expanding regional footprints, including Casio India celebrating its new corporate headquarters in New Delhi to support ongoing market growth in a strategically vital region.
