Electronics retail giant Ceconomy, the Dusseldorf-based parent company of prominent European chains MediaMarkt and Saturn, announced a sharp increase in both its operating profit and total revenue for the full financial year ending in September. Speaking from its corporate headquarters in Dusseldorf on Tuesday, the company reported earnings before interest and tax of 515 million euros, which equals roughly 574 million dollars. The operating profit figure marks a 27 percent surge compared to the prior fiscal period, providing strong evidence of sustained operational momentum across its international network.

The retail group's top-line performance also demonstrated steady improvement over the course of the fiscal cycle. Annual revenue advanced by 5.3 percent to reach 24.0 billion euros for the 2025/26 financial year. In its official announcement, corporate leadership highlighted that the fourth quarter represented the fifteenth consecutive quarter of profitability expansion for the organization. Management stated that these positive results have established a solid foundation for future operational growth and financial stability across European consumer markets.

According to Ceconomy, the notable increase in full-year operating performance was driven primarily by strong performance in several specific product divisions. The company recorded particularly robust results within its household appliances segment, alongside healthy consumer demand across IT hardware and mobile devices. Looking ahead, the European electronics operator outlined an ambitious mid-term objective, aiming to generate an adjusted earnings before interest and tax figure of approximately 800 million euros in the 2028/29 financial year. The company confirmed that its finalized financial figures are scheduled for publication on December 14.

The commercial network underpinning these financial results extends across extensive territory on the European continent. As of the end of September, Ceconomy operated a retail footprint of 1,068 physical stores under the MediaMarkt, MediaWorld, and Saturn brand names across 11 European countries. That store count represents a net increase of one location compared to the network recorded a year earlier. The domestic German market continues to represent the core of the group's physical store network, accounting for 390 retail locations within the overall portfolio.

Across its store operations and corporate offices, Ceconomy maintains an international staff complement of approximately 50,000 workers. These newly announced financial benchmarks arrive at a pivotal turning point for the ownership structure of the Dusseldorf enterprise. Chinese e-commerce retailer JD.com is pursuing a full acquisition of Ceconomy, signaling an impending cross-border transition for one of Europe's most established consumer electronics corporations.

The planned buyout has already cleared major domestic regulatory hurdles within the group's primary operating territory. Germany's Federal Cartel Office formally granted its approval for JD.com's proposed takeover of the Dusseldorf retailer. However, the transaction has not yet been fully finalized, as an official regulatory review by the European Union remains ongoing. The retail group will await the outcome of the European administrative review as it continues to execute its long-term commercial goals.
