The regional government of Galicia has launched a new campaign of its Activa Comercio shopping discount program, allocating 2.5 million euros to stimulate consumer spending and bolster neighborhood stores across the Spanish territory. Galician President Alfonso Rueda announced the rollout following a weekly meeting of the regional governing council, explaining that the public initiative is designed to mobilize more than 8.5 million euros in commercial sales for neighborhood retailers. The launch represents the second phase of the voucher program for 2026, following an initial round that was deployed earlier in the year.

Under the terms published in the regional government's official gazette, the Diario Oficial de Galicia, consumers can download the discount vouchers beginning Wednesday, October 28, starting at 9:00 a.m. local time. Residents can obtain their vouchers directly through the official website, www.bonosactivacomercio.gal, receiving a digital pass equipped with a QR code that can be presented at participating brick-and-mortar storefronts. Each consumer is restricted to downloading a single voucher, which provides cumulative savings of up to 30 euros on eligible retail purchases.

The discounts operate on a tiered deduction schedule that corresponds directly to the total cost of the customer's purchase. Shoppers spending between 20 euros and 29.99 euros receive a 5-euro discount, while transactions valued between 30 euros and 49.99 euros qualify for a 10-euro price reduction. For retail purchases that reach or exceed 50 euros, the voucher applies a maximum deduction of 15 euros. The overall 30-euro allowance is gradually deducted across eligible transactions until the customer exhausts their personal balance.

This new injection of 2.5 million euros matches the capital allocated during the previous phase in May, bringing the total funding committed to the retail incentive initiative to 5 million euros for the annual cycle. The regional administration introduced an operational adjustment for merchants to accelerate implementation: retail locations that participated in the prior round do not need to reapply, as their active status has been automatically renewed. Retailers that did not take part previously are permitted to submit applications until December 15, or until program funds run dry.

Access to the financial incentives is managed on a first-come, first-served operational basis. Although the administration places no ceiling on the total number of residents who can download the digital passes from the online portal, the vouchers will instantly cease to function once regional claims exhaust the 2.5 million euro pool. Discrepancies exist across official informational releases regarding program scheduling, as some administrative notices frame the incentives as an ongoing fixture of the 2026 economic agenda, while others connect the discounts to promotional preparations for the Xacobeo 2027 regional framework.

To build public visibility and foster customer loyalty for small independent establishments, the regional government is repeating a social media promotional contest across its official Instagram and TikTok platforms. Customers who engage with promotional posts by liking them, including the hashtag #ComercioGalego, naming the specific merchant and municipality where they spent money, and tagging another user are entered into a drawing. The campaign will award four individual grand prizes of 250-euro vouchers, and the winners must reinvest those funds within participating businesses within seven days.

The retail vouchers represent one component of a broader economic and labor agenda managed by Galicia's Department of Employment, Commerce, and Emigration. In budget presentations before the Galician Parliament's economy committee, Regional Minister José González detailed a departmental budget expanding by 2.46 percent to surpass 507.5 million euros for 2027. Officials confirmed that neighborhood trade initiatives will remain a core focus, combining the Activa Comercio vouchers with regional market modernizations, rural business networks, and specialized commercial revival projects across the territory.
