Chacarita Defeats Temperley with Late Goal in Primera Nacional

Chacarita secured a dramatic 1-0 victory against Temperley at the Alfredo Beranger stadium during the 35th round of the Argentina Primera Nacional 2026 championship. The match remained tightly contested for the majority of the afternoon, with both sides desperately needing points for entirely different objectives as the season nears its conclusion.

Entering the match, Temperley aimed to secure a victory to keep pace in the battle for the top spot in Zona B, holding aspirations of reaching the summit and challenging for promotion. Meanwhile, Chacarita arrived in Turdera facing immense pressure at the opposite end of the table, fighting intensely to maintain their category status and avoid relegation.

Throughout the first half, neither side was able to break the deadlock. Temperley attempted to unlock the visiting defense through filtered passes and territorial dominance, driven by the demands of their home supporters. Chacarita maintained a disciplined defensive posture while seeking opportunities to counterattack, creating occasional danger including a header from Domínguez that forced a brilliant save from goalkeeper Mastrolia.

The second half followed a similar tactical pattern as both teams understood the catastrophic implications of a potential defeat. Temperley increased the pressure and generated the clearest scoring opportunities during the opening exchanges of the half, patient in their build-up play as they searched for the opening goal.

As the clock wound down, the home crowd's anxiety grew, pushing Temperley forward in search of a winner but ultimately leaving spaces at the back. Chacarita capitalized precisely on this desperation during the dying moments of the match.

In the 46th minute of the second half, a swift counterattack caught the host defense off guard. Sanabria surged down the left flank and drew the goalkeeper before squaring the ball to Thiago Zárate, who slotted home the decisive goal to send the visiting bench and supporters into a frenzy.

Despite a brief scuffle during the goal celebration that extended stoppage time, Chacarita successfully defended their lead through the final whistle. The hard-fought triumph temporarily lifts Chacarita out of the relegation zone heading into their final match of the season against Nueva Chicago.

Conversely, the defeat delivered a severe setback to Temperley's ambitions. The loss leaves the Gasolero sitting third in the standings, three points behind group leader Tristán Suárez with only one fixture remaining in the regular campaign.
