The Corinthians squad secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Mirassol on Friday night at the Neo Química Arena, breaking a ten-game winless streak in the Brazilian Championship. The match, valid for the 33rd round of the 2026 Brasileirao, marked the first triumph for the team under the leadership of coach Clarence Seedorf.

Despite claiming the three points, Corinthians remains in the relegation zone, occupying the 17th position with 36 points and moving ahead of Internacional in the standings. Meanwhile, Mirassol dropped one position in the tournament following the loss and now sits in 16th place with 37 points.

The first half of the match featured heavy pressure from the home side, although the squad struggled to break through the defensive line of the visitors. The turning point of the opening period occurred at the 23rd minute when Mirassol player Edson Carioca received a red card for striking defender André Ramalho in the face, a decision confirmed after a video assistant referee review.

With a numerical advantage on the field, Corinthians returned from halftime with renewed offensive pressure. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 12th minute of the second half. Breno Bidon passed the ball to Matheuzinho on the right flank, who delivered a low cross across the penalty area for Matheus Bidu to finish with a sliding shot, opening the score.

Mirassol attempted to organize defensively while playing with ten men, but the visitors struggled to create meaningful offensive threats. As the match progressed, the home team continued to press for a second goal to secure the result.

The definitive goal sealing the victory came at the 34th minute. Rodrigo Garro initiated a play in the defensive field, bypassed two opponents, crossed the midfield line, and delivered a deep pass to Kaio César. The forward controlled the ball, shifted toward the middle, and struck a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

The match was broadcast live on subscription television through SporTV and via the Premiere pay-per-view platform. For this fixture, Corinthians faced notable absences, including forward Memphis Depay, who missed his third consecutive game due to a left thigh injury, and Jesse Lingard, who was suspended and also dealing with a rib fracture.
