Cruzeiro and Bahia are set to face off this Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at the Mineirão stadium in Belo Horizonte. The match, part of the 34th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, features two teams with distinct objectives as the season enters its final stretch.

Cruzeiro enters the contest in third place with 57 points, riding the momentum of three consecutive victories, including a recent win over Atlético-MG. Manager Artur Jorge faces a significant roster challenge, however, as he must navigate the absences of William, Villalba, and Matheus Pereira due to suspensions, alongside injuries to João Marcelo, Felipe Morais, Gabriel Pec, and Sinisterra.

The Bahia squad, managed by Rogério Ceni, arrives in Belo Horizonte following a victory against São Paulo. The team is currently fighting for a spot in the Copa Libertadores. Bahia faces a difficult historical hurdle, having failed to secure a win in Minas Gerais against Cruzeiro for 13 years. Their last victory at the venue dates back to the second half of the 2013 season.

For the visiting side, defender Kanu returns to the starting lineup after serving a suspension, replacing Marco Moreno, who was sidelined due to food poisoning. Additionally, midfielder Everton Ribeiro is expected to return to the starting eleven, taking the place of Erick Pulga. Meanwhile, striker Willian José remains excluded from the squad following institutional disciplinary action related to social media activity.

Cruzeiro’s recent home form has been formidable. The club has remained undefeated at the Mineirão for four months, with their last home loss occurring during the 20th round against Botafogo. Since then, the team has maintained a consistent run of results across both the Brasileirão and cup competitions, solidifying their position at the top of the league standings.

The officiating crew for the match will be led by referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein, assisted by Bruno Boschilia and Gizeli Casaril. The match will be monitored by VAR official Wagner Reway. As both teams prepare for the kickoff, the stakes remain high for Cruzeiro to maintain their position in the top tier and for Bahia to improve their performance against G-6 opponents.
