A fatal traffic collision occurred on Friday, October 23, 2026, in the commune of Jeurre, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old woman. The tragic crash happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Department Road 27 just outside the town.

According to local authorities and preliminary reports, the incident involved a heavy vehicle and a passenger car. The driver of the tanker or concrete mixer truck was traveling down the Jeurre slope when he apparently lost control of the vehicle due to slippery, wet pavement.

The heavy transport vehicle reportedly went into a spin, sliding across the road for multiple meters before crashing directly into the oncoming automobile. The impact was severe and proved fatal for the driver of the car, a resident of nearby Chassal-Molinges.

Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but the 46-year-old female driver succumbed to her injuries instantly. Meanwhile, the driver of the heavy truck escaped physical injury, though he was left in a state of severe shock and received immediate assistance from firefighters.

Initial investigations at the scene indicated that the truck driver held a valid license and was compliant with regulations. Furthermore, toxicological screenings administered to the driver returned negative results.

The collision caused temporary disruptions to local traffic on Department Road 27. Firefighters and emergency crews worked to clear the area and remove the wreckage of the heavy vehicle from the roadside ditch, allowing normal transit to resume shortly after.

This tragic event marks the fourth roadway fatality recorded in the department over a span of just three weeks, highlighting growing concerns regarding driving conditions during wet weather. Earlier in the month, a nighttime head-on collision in Poids-de-Fiole claimed the lives of two individuals in their sixties, and a young man named Teddy Fontaine died in a separate crash near the Courlaoux airfield.
