Real Madrid secured a dramatic 3-2 victory in the Champions League on Wednesday after a stunning stoppage-time strike from Federico Valverde in Athens broke AEK Athens' hearts. The Greek side pushed the Spanish giants to the limit at the AEK Arena before the late winner settled the contest.

AEK Athens started the match strongly and took an early lead in the 12th minute. Aboubakary Koita cut inside before firing a powerful shot past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at the near post. The hosts continued to pressure the visitors, with former Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic also testing Courtois during the impressive opening phase.

Real Madrid eventually found an equalizer in the 32nd minute. Jude Bellingham cleverly redirected a low cross into the bottom corner to level the score. As the first half concluded, both sides remained level, though the Spanish visitors gradually began to assert more control over the tempo.

The second half brought heightened intensity as Real Madrid increased their attacking pressure. Despite this dominance, AEK Athens refused to relent and reclaimed the lead in the 75th minute. Stavros Pilios made a remarkable forward surge into the penalty area and finished through Courtois' legs, igniting wild celebrations among the home supporters.

The home side's advantage proved short-lived, however, as Real Madrid responded just three minutes later. Kylian Mbappe arrived at the far post to convert a low cross, restoring parity for the visitors. Mbappe nearly added another shortly after, striking the crossbar following a clever pass from substitute Endrick.

Just as the match appeared headed for a draw, Federico Valverde delivered the decisive moment in the 92nd minute. Introduced as a substitute in the 67th minute, the Real Madrid captain found space outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful long-range strike into the top-right corner, leaving AEK goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli with no chance.

The late goal sealed another dramatic comeback for the team managed by José Mourinho. With the victory, Real Madrid maintained their perfect record in the Champions League by winning all of their matches so far.

Frustration boiled over for AEK Athens after the final whistle. Koita was shown a red card following a post-match confrontation with the referee, compounding the disappointment of the narrow defeat.
