German Quiz Show Question Leads to Amusing Football Mishap

Union Berlin head coach Mauro Lustrinelli became the center of an amusing television mishap during an episode of the quiz show Wer wird Millionär?, broadcast on German television. The 50-year-old Swiss manager was featured in a €2,000 question that ultimately stumped a contestant from Augsburg, leading to an early exit and just €500 in winnings.

During Monday evening's program, hosted by Günther Jauch, contestant Noah Petrik faced the question asking who became the head football coach of Union Berlin in July. The four multiple-choice options provided were Igor Spassikowski, Mauro Lustrinelli, Erling Gaudigaard, and Jimmy Sexyhexi.

Admitting that none of the names sounded familiar to him, Petrik decided to use his phone-a-friend lifeline. Unfortunately, his friend provided incorrect advice by suggesting Igor Spassikowski, which ended the contestant's run on the show.

Union Berlin's social media department quickly joined in on the humor, posting a screenshot of the quiz question alongside a photograph of their manager, playfully suggesting that the correct answer should have been the fictitious Jimmy Sexyhexi. Lustrinelli himself took the incident in stride after numerous acquaintances forwarded him footage of the broadcast.

Speaking to the press, Lustrinelli remarked that he found the situation quite funny, including the humorous alternative names generated for the question. In response, the coach extended a warm invitation to the contestant to attend one of the team's upcoming matches.

The coincidence proved timely, as Lustrinelli's squad was scheduled to travel to Petrik's hometown for an upcoming Bundesliga fixture against FC Augsburg. The manager noted that the unexpected television appearance at least ensured a few more football followers would recognize his name as he continues his rebuilding project with the club.
