Club Atletico Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza fought back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Club Atletico Lanus at the Ciudad de Lanus - Nestor Diaz Perez stadium during the 15th round of the Argentine Professional Football League Torneo Clausura. The visiting team displayed two distinct halves, struggling during the opening forty-five minutes before finding their footing after halftime to claim a valuable point on the road.

The match began with Lanus controlling the tempo and managing the development of the game under coach Mauricio Pellegrino. Despite holding better possession and utilizing attacking references such as Eduardo Salvio and Matias Sepulveda, the home side struggled to consistently translate their territorial dominance into clear-cut scoring opportunities against a resilient defensive block.

Just as the first half appeared to be ending scoreless, Lanus broke the deadlock in the 47th minute. Following a corner kick and a defensive lapse by the visitors, a close-range header placed a Granate player in a favorable position facing goalkeeper Cesar Rigamonti, who could do nothing to stop the opening strike that put the hosts ahead 1-0 heading into the intermission.

Gimnasia, managed by Dario Franco, entered the second period with renewed tactical aggression and a higher pressing scheme. The tactical adjustments, notably the introduction of substitutes like Matias Vargas, proved decisive in shifting the momentum as the Mendoza team began to challenge for control of the pitch and push deeper into enemy territory.

The equalizer arrived in the 27th minute of the second half following a fluid collective sequence initiated by Vargas. The visiting buildup created enough pressure inside the box to force an own goal, leveling the score at 1-1 and restoring confidence for the squad from Mendoza during the closing stretch of the fixture.

With the deadlock broken, Gimnasia even displayed better arguments to seek a potential victory in the final minutes, establishing sustained presence in the attacking half. Although they continued to experience difficulties executing cleanly in the final meters, the squad successfully held on to the draw to salvage a positive result after a challenging start.

The outcome leaves both teams navigating different paths as the regular phase of the Torneo Clausura draws near its conclusion. Lanus enters the final stretch maintaining a competitive standing in the upper tier of Zone A, while Gimnasia looks ahead to an upcoming provincial classic against Independiente Rivadavia at the Victor Legrotaglie stadium with renewed determination.
