Ireland posted a total of 229 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs against Namibia during the first One Day International of the 2026 tour at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek. The touring side set a target of 230 runs for Namibia to chase, requiring an average of 4.33 runs per over.

During the final stages of the Irish innings, Jack Brassell bowled Liam McCarthy for a quick knock, while JJ Smit picked up key wickets, including Gavin Hoey. Despite late pressure from the Namibian bowling attack, contributions from the lower order helped push Ireland near the 230-run mark, concluding the innings at 229 for 9 after Jai Moondra and Andy McBrine completed the 50th over.

As Namibia began their run chase, they reached 64 for 2 after 11.4 overs. Opening batsman Louren Steenkamp contributed significantly before being caught by George Dockrell off the bowling of Gavin Hoey after scoring 26 runs from 37 balls.

Following the dismissal of Steenkamp, captain Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Frylinck took crease to steady the innings. Namibia advanced their score while keeping a steady run rate, needing 166 additional runs from 230 remaining balls to secure a victory in the opening fixture.

The 2026 series opener features five scheduled ODIs between the two national teams. The match continues at the High Performance Oval with live updates tracking every over, wicket, and scoring milestone as the chase progresses.

Both squads feature prominent international players, with Paul Stirling leading the Irish side as captain and Gerhard Erasmus captaining the host squad from Namibia. Fans and analysts are closely monitoring the match as the tour gets underway in Windhoek.
