Landman Begins Season 3 Production With Cast Additions
The Paramount+ drama has officially commenced filming its third season in Fort Worth, Texas, introducing new cast members and a major narrative shift.
Production for the third season of the Paramount+ drama series Landman is officially underway in Fort Worth, Texas, bringing new characters and major plot developments to the West Texas oil fields. Following months of schedule delays, cameras began rolling in late autumn, though network executives have not yet announced an official premiere date for the upcoming episodes.
The third season follows a dramatic narrative reset triggered by the events of the season two finale. After Monty's death and a subsequent falling out with Cami Miller, protagonist Tommy Norris, portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton, was fired from M-Tex. Rather than exiting the industry, Tommy secured backing from cartel boss Gallino to launch a brand-new independent venture named CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle.
The new company shifts the series dynamic by establishing a family-run operation. Tommy named his estranged son, Cooper Norris, played by Jacob Lofland, as president of the company. In addition to Cooper, the startup's leadership team features several familiar faces, including Nate as treasurer, Rebecca as chief legal counsel, and T.L. Norris overseeing drilling operations.
This transition sets up a different kind of working relationship between father and son. Throughout the first two seasons, Tommy and Cooper maintained separate professional and personal spheres while navigating a strained familial bond. Season three will explore the friction and potential conflict of mixing family with business as the younger Norris steps into a major leadership role.
Alongside the returning core cast—including Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, and Andy Garcia—season three welcomes several notable additions and promotions. Emmy-nominated actor Michael Kelly has joined the cast as William Crockett, described by Paramount as an industry titan who leads the world's largest oil management firm. Additionally, supporting actors Colm Feore, Mustafa Speaks, Bobbi Salvor Menuez, and Francesca Xuereb have been elevated to series regulars.
Behind the scenes, creative elements of the show continue to draw from real-life experiences. Ali Larter revealed that a memorable storyline involving Angela and Ainsley visiting and throwing parties at a retirement home was directly inspired by the volunteer work of series co-creator Taylor Sheridan's wife, Nicole Muirbrook, who frequently visits elderly residents to bring them refreshments and organize outings.
Co-creator Christian Wallace and cast members have teased that the upcoming 10 episodes will maintain the wild, unpredictable formula established in the first two seasons. While production is currently moving forward in Texas, fans await further announcements regarding when the new chapter of the West Texas oil drama will premiere.
