Lecco News Roundup: Geopolitical Risk Tool, Digital Desks, and Soccer Draw
Recent developments in Lecco include a new industrial risk analysis tool, the continuation of digital facilitation desks, and a hard-fought soccer draw.
Confindustria Lecco and Sondrio has introduced "Georisk Lecco and Sondrio," a newly developed analysis tool designed to measure how foreign trade across eight key manufacturing supply chains is exposed to macroeconomic and geopolitical factors. Created by energy and commodity advisor Sergio Giraldo in partnership with the association's Study Center, the instrument aims to provide operational support to both small-and-medium enterprises and larger corporations by evaluating export and import vulnerabilities.
Mauro Medola, head of the Confindustria Lecco and Sondrio Study Center, explained that the initiative acts as an operational support for firms that must contend with international uncertainties. Marco Campanari, president of the association, emphasized that timely information regarding global scenarios carries high strategic value for local supply chains, elevating the specialized expertise of the local study center.
In sports, the local soccer club secured a 2-2 draw against Folgore Caratese at the Rigamonti-Ceppi stadium. The home team initially took the lead in the 26th minute through Capello, but Folgore Caratese quickly equalized with a lob shot from newly arrived veteran Cassata. Despite falling behind in the second half following a goal by Mezsargs, the home side salvaged a point thanks to a header from Rizzo in the 35th minute.
The result marks the fourth consecutive positive result for the home side, placing them ninth in the standings with fourteen points, while Folgore Caratese remains near the bottom with seven points. The match was characterized by intense play and strategic adjustments from both managers, Federico Valente and Federico Guidi, before finishing in a shared draw.
Meanwhile, the local provincial network for digital facilitation has announced that several municipal desks will remain operational even after the conclusion of regional funding tied to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Between March and April, the network successfully assisted nearly 5,500 citizens with digital procedures such as obtaining digital identity credentials, electronic identity cards, and accessing online health records.
Led by the local provincial adult education center and various municipal and third-sector partners, the desks will maintain permanent service locations in Lecco, Colico, Oggiono, Casatenovo, Cernusco Lombardone, and Olgiate Molgora. Representatives emphasized that these services bridge critical gaps in digital literacy, particularly for elderly residents and foreign citizens navigating public administration tools.
In infrastructure news, utility work prompted temporary traffic modifications along Via Roma in Vercurago. E-distribution scheduled excavation and asphalt paving operations affecting the lane heading toward Lecco, with local authorities establishing alternative detours and temporary road closures to manage vehicular flow during the construction window.
