Murder Investigation Underway After Man Found Dead in La Turballe

A homicide investigation was officially launched after a group of morning walkers discovered the body of a forty-year-old man in a parking lot located on the road to Pen-Bron in La Turballe, Loire-Atlantique. The grim discovery was made on Monday, November 2, at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Emergency services, including firefighters, were alerted shortly thereafter and arrived at the scene around 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival, responders found the victim in cardiac arrest and exhibiting signs of rigor mortis, according to rescue officials. Local reports indicate that the victim worked as a boatman at the port of Saint-Nazaire.

Law enforcement officers from the gendarmerie quickly secured the area following witness reports. Initial observations by investigators immediately pointed toward foul play due to visible trauma on the victim's body. The Public Prosecutor of Saint-Nazaire, Florence Sroda, confirmed that the lifeless body bore a wound crossing the thorax.

An autopsy subsequently revealed that the thoracic injury was caused by a firearm discharge. The weapon used in the shooting was not recovered at the scene. Authorities have stated that suicide has been completely ruled out as a possible cause of death.

The investigation has been formally assigned to the research section of the gendarmerie in Nantes. As the inquiry continues, no arrests have been made and investigators have not yet prioritized any specific motive or theory behind the killing.

A judicial inquiry is expected to be opened promptly at the criminal division in Nantes. Local authorities continue to appeal for information from the public as they work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
