A new open-air drug camp has reportedly formed along Rheintorstraße in Neuss, generating significant anxiety among local residents. Observers note that the site features hidden tent-like structures, thick bushes, and individuals closely monitoring anyone who approaches the area.

The conditions closely resemble those previously seen at a former drug hotspot near the Neuss civic hall. Observers describe the newly established location as functioning "like a supermarket where you can get all kinds of drugs."

In response to the deteriorating situation, local authorities of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss police department have conducted targeted operations against narcotics consumption and trafficking throughout the city. During a recent raid in the Rheintorstraße downtown area, officers searched the emerging encampment.

At approximately 3:40 PM during the operation, law enforcement discovered a backpack containing cash along with substances suspected to be heroin and cocaine. According to police, the quantity, packaging, and denomination of the money strongly suggested illegal drug trafficking.

Officers officially seized the narcotics and cash as evidence. The criminal investigation department has since taken over the case to identify and locate the owner of the recovered backpack.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance. Citizens with relevant information regarding the case are urged to contact investigators by phone or email.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that future operations will continue to target drug distribution in Neuss. Authorities plan to deploy both uniformed and undercover officers to monitor frequent gathering spots utilized by consumers, buyers, and sellers across the city.
