The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, dropping their record to 2-5 in a difficult season. Playing without key offensive weapons such as wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks due to injuries, the Eagles struggled to contain a surging Cowboys rushing attack that accumulated 204 yards on the ground.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns without committing an interception. Meanwhile, Javonte Williams spearheaded the Cowboys' offense by rushing for 155 yards on 25 carries, wearing down the Philadelphia front seven and defensive unit over the course of the game.

Making his second career start, Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee finished 23 of 35 for 211 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, earning a passer rating of 79.6. McKee showed flashes of comfort and directed an opening-drive touchdown in the third quarter, marking the team's first successful second-half opening drive of the entire season.

Amid the offensive shortages, rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon stepped up to deliver a breakout performance. The first-round draft pick secured a team-high seven receptions for 67 yards and his first career NFL touchdown on eight targets, serving as a reliable safety valve for McKee out of the slot.

The Eagles' ground game also encountered physical setbacks. Running back Saquon Barkley started despite a hamstring injury but had to leave the contest when his back began to act up. Replacement Dameon Pierce also sustained an injury after recording 47 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, leaving reserve Elijah Mitchell to finish out the matchup.

Defensively, the Eagles struggled immensely to generate pressure, failing to record a single sack, quarterback hit, or tackle for loss. Head coach and defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio's unit conceded significant yardage, with cornerback Riq Woolen allowing five catches for 111 yards against opposing receivers.

Despite the mounting struggles and a 2-5 standing, the team acknowledges that the NFC East division race mathematically remains open. The coaching staff and players will look to regroup ahead of their upcoming schedule as they evaluate player health and roster adjustments.
