French artist Philippe Katerine released his brand-new album, titled Planète bleue, featuring a mix of political commentary and poetic lyricism. The release follows a busy autumn schedule that includes an art exhibition at the Niort museum and a special collaborative stage show with longtime peer Dominique A.

The project was born out of a series of concerts held previously and was recorded in a music studio in the Yvelines region, close to the artist's home. Katerine developed the melodies and lyrics after revisiting instrumental tracks provided by producer Nk.F, known for his work with the rap group PNL. Through the album, the singer sought to address broader global concerns while maintaining an intimate musical atmosphere.

Reflecting on the themes of the record, Katerine explained his desire to comment on the world around him. He noted being particularly moved by environmental protests against mega-basins in Sainte-Soline and expressed early memories of environmental negligence during the Tour de France. The album also touches on social perspectives, including a track suggesting that adopting a leftist worldview requires deliberate effort, drawing on insights from his mother, a former schoolteacher.

Alongside his musical endeavors, Katerine is deeply involved in the visual arts. He has curated a carte blanche exhibition at the Niort museum for its twentieth anniversary, showcasing his own work alongside submissions from regional artists and amateurs. Furthermore, he continues to promote 'mignonisme,' an artistic movement he initiated during pandemic lockdowns to counter violence through absurdity, with pieces recently displayed at Louvre-Lens.

This autumn also highlights Katerine's personal life and family. During an appearance on television to promote the new album, the artist expressed pride in his 15-year-old son, Billy Blanchard, who has recently gained public attention and a growing following through fashion events and media appearances. Katerine shared his appreciation for watching his son navigate the fashion world and enjoy the spotlight.

Beyond his solo music and art projects, Katerine continues to expand his creative footprint in film and performance. Fans can see him on screen in the comedy film Comme des riches, directed by Amin Harfouch, which arrives on streaming platforms following its theatrical run. Meanwhile, his winter tour alongside Dominique A will celebrate decades of friendship by reinterpreting each other's musical repertoires on stage.
