Real Madrid Hosts RB Leipzig in UEFA Champions League Clash

Real Madrid will face RB Leipzig on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain, during the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The Spanish giants enter the fixture looking to maintain a flawless record in Europe, while the visiting German squad attempts to bounce back from a heavy domestic defeat.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho comes into the match riding the momentum of a 4-1 victory over Sevilla in the Spanish league. In the Champions League, Los Blancos have secured victories against Inter Milan and Roma, accumulating six points and sitting comfortably in eighth place to fight for a direct spot in the round of 16.

The buildup to the European encounter has also involved scrutiny surrounding Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior. Mourinho addressed the player's recent struggles and transfer speculation linking him to Arsenal during the summer, firmly emphasizing team hierarchy. "The badge is untouchable," Mourinho told reporters. "What makes players untouchable isn't their status, the captain's armband, or the years they've spent at the club. Nor is it about how much was paid for them. What makes a player untouchable is their performance on the pitch."

Representatives from Roc Nations Sports International, who represent Vinicius, recently acknowledged that the winger seriously considered an aggressive approach from Arsenal over the summer before ultimately extending his contract with Real Madrid until 2032. Despite a difficult start to the current campaign, which included a recent LaLiga suspension, Mourinho confirmed that Vinicius will start against RB Leipzig.

On the opposing side, RB Leipzig arrives in the Spanish capital under pressure after suffering a 6-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Managed by Martín Demichelis, the German club currently sits seventh in the German league with nine points. In Europe, Leipzig holds three points following a loss to Como and a victory over PSV Eindhoven, and they are seeking defensive stability to pull off an upset away from home.

The referee for Wednesday's match will be István Kovács from Romania, supported by assistant referees Mihai Marica and Ferencz Tunyogi, with Tomasz Kwiatkowski operating the video assistant referee system. Fans in Brazil can watch the broadcast live through streaming platforms and cable television channels.
