Real Sociedad delivered a dominant performance on Thursday, defeating Norwegian side Lillestrom 6-0 during the third matchday of the UEFA Europa League at the Arasen Stadion. Entering the match under pressure following early struggles in the tournament, the Basque team capitalized on clinical finishing across both halves to secure their first victory of the European campaign.

The match began with early warning signs for the visitors as Lillestrom created initial scoring opportunities through Lehne Olsen and a deflected shot by Paintsil. However, Real Sociedad quickly established control as the first half progressed, breaking the deadlock in the 25th minute when Sergio Gómez finished a cross from Mikel Oyarzabal after the ball slipped through a defender's legs.

Just minutes later, Sergio Gómez doubled the lead by capitalizing on a precise build-up initiated by Oyarzabal on the left flank. Before the first half concluded, Luka Sucic added a third goal in the 33rd minute with a powerful left-footed strike following another assist from the team captain, rounding out a dominant opening period.

Early in the second half, Lillestrom was awarded a penalty after Jon Martín brought down Markus Nyheim inside the area. Goalkeeper Unai Marrero preserved the clean sheet by successfully blocking Olsen's penalty kick, maintaining the visitors' comfortable advantage.

Real Sociedad extended their lead further in the 64th minute when recently substituted Óskarsson tapped in a low cross provided by Guedes. Sucic scored his second goal of the evening in the 72nd minute after intercepting a defensive error, calmly beating the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

The scoring concluded in the 80th minute when Zakharyan received a pass near the edge of the box, created space with a sharp cut, and launched a curling left-footed shot into the upper corner of the net. The commanding victory brings much-needed momentum to Real Sociedad's European campaign after gathering only one point from their opening two fixtures.

The comprehensive win matches the club's largest-ever margin of victory in European competition. Head coach Matarazzo's side successfully combined strong defensive organization with clinical attacking efficiency, leaving the Norwegian stadium with a clean sheet and renewed confidence.
