Shaun Wright-Phillips Eliminated From Strictly Come Dancing
Former professional soccer player Shaun Wright-Phillips and his partner Alexis Warr became the fourth couple to exit the BBC competition.
Former England soccer player Shaun Wright-Phillips and his professional dance partner Alexis Warr became the fourth couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday night, October 25, 2026. The pair exited the BBC One contest following a tense dance-off against actress Jaime Winstone and her partner Carlos Gu.
During Saturday's episode, Wright-Phillips and Warr finished at the bottom of the leaderboard with 17 points after performing their Jive to 'Faith' by Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, Winstone and Gu finished higher with 25 points after dancing the Foxtrot to 'Man I Need' by Olivia Dean, but still found themselves fighting for their place in the bottom two after the public vote.
Both couples performed their routines again during the Sunday results show. Following the performances, judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to save Winstone and Gu. Head judge Shirley Ballas voted to save Wright-Phillips and Warr, leaving Anton Du Beke with the deciding vote, which ultimately sent Wright-Phillips and Warr home.
Fans expressed surprise on social media that Winstone landed in the bottom two despite scoring 25 points on Saturday night. Viewers shared mixed reactions regarding the latest elimination, while many acknowledged that Wright-Phillips sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard made his exit an expected outcome.
At the top of the Week 5 leaderboard, Tabby Stoecker and professional partner Mark Karmalita secured first place with an impressive 37 points for their Couple's Choice dance. Delta Goodrem, returning after recovering from a rib injury with partner Kai Widdrington, earned 34 points, with both top couples receiving the series' first 10s from the judges.
Looking ahead, the show announced a major series-first twist for the upcoming Halloween special next weekend. With 11 couples remaining in the competition, the three pairs with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes will participate in a triple dance-off before the judges decide which couple to eliminate.
The upcoming Halloween special will air on Saturday on BBC One, followed by the results show on Sunday evening, with episodes also available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
