Skoda Expands Electric Lineup with Epiq and Peaq Models
The Czech automaker has introduced its compact Epiq and flagship Peaq electric vehicles to international markets, offering new options for EV buyers.
Automotive manufacturer Skoda has broadened its electric vehicle lineup by introducing two distinct models to international markets: the compact Epiq and the spacious Peaq. These new additions expand the brand's electric offerings, aiming to cater to a wide range of consumers with varying space and budget requirements.
The Epiq is designed as an entry-level option, measuring just 4.17 meters in length. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the vehicle boasts a remarkably large cargo capacity of 475 liters, surpassing that of several larger models. Built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB+ platform, the Epiq features a front-wheel-drive layout and a modern interior equipped with a 13-inch infotainment display running Android Automotive, alongside physical buttons for essential functions.
Performance-wise, the Epiq is available in multiple powertrain configurations. The base models include variants like the Epiq 35 and 40, offering moderate driving ranges and smaller batteries, while the top-tier Epiq 55 delivers 211 horsepower and an estimated driving range of up to 441 kilometers on a single charge. Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to replenish from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 to 33 minutes, depending on the specific version.
Pricing for the Epiq varies by region and promotional incentives. In Croatia, the vehicle starts at 24,495 euros before local subsidies, while promotional pricing in other European markets can lower the entry barrier significantly when combined with government grants and specific financing terms. Additionally, Skoda offers a Sportline variant for the Epiq, which adds dark exterior accents, 19-inch wheels, and upgraded interior features like microfiber sports seats.
At the opposite end of the spectrum sits the Peaq, a large electric SUV measuring 4.87 meters in length. With a wheelbase stretching nearly three meters, the Peaq is available in five- or seven-seat configurations, offering up to 935 liters of luggage space behind the second row. It features a luxurious cabin equipped with a vertical 13.6-inch touchscreen, high-end comfort options such as massage seats, and an array of advanced driver assistance systems.
The Peaq comes in powertrain variants including the 60, 90, and 90x, delivering between 204 and 299 horsepower. Battery capacities of 59 kWh and 86 kWh provide maximum driving ranges of up to 647 kilometers under WLTP testing. The range-topping 90x variant includes all-wheel drive, while the model supports rapid charging times ranging from 27 to 28 minutes for a 10 to 80 percent charge.
With the arrival of the Epiq and Peaq, Skoda has established a comprehensive electric SUV family that spans from practical urban vehicles to premium long-distance cruisers. Both models reflect the brand's new Modern Solid design philosophy, combining digital technology with traditional interior practicality.
