Social Security and SSI Schedule Adjustments Set for November 2026

Upcoming federal holidays and calendar shifts will alter standard deposit dates for millions of beneficiaries next month.

Millions of Americans relying on Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will experience changes to their standard payment schedules in November 2026 due to federal holidays and calendar placement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) routinely adjusts deposit dates when regular schedules conflict with weekends or federal holidays, ensuring that recipients receive their funds without interruption.

For SSI recipients, the November benefit will be distributed early. Because November 1 falls on a Sunday, the payment is scheduled to arrive on Friday, October 30. The agency clarified that this transaction represents an advance distribution for November rather than an additional benefit or an alteration to the standard entitlement amount.

Standard Social Security payments are also subject to adjustments next month. Veterans Day, observed on Wednesday, November 11, serves as a federal holiday that impacts the distribution calendar. Consequently, beneficiaries belonging to the first regular Wednesday payment group—specifically those born between the first and tenth of any month—will receive their deposits a day early, on Tuesday, November 10, instead of the usual second Wednesday.

The remainder of the November 2026 payment calendar follows a structured timeline based primarily on recipients' dates of birth. Beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of the month can expect their funds on Wednesday, November 18. Those born between the 21st and the end of the month are scheduled to receive their disbursements on Wednesday, November 25.

Certain groups operate under a separate schedule outside the birthday-dependent cycle. Individuals who began receiving benefits before May 1997, as well as dual beneficiaries who receive both Social Security and SSI, are scheduled to receive their monthly payment on Tuesday, November 3. The SSA recommends that households review the official 2026 payment calendar to confirm their exact deposit dates and plan their monthly budgets accordingly.

In addition to the scheduling changes, the SSA recently announced upcoming financial adjustments for the following year. Beginning with payments issued in January 2027, beneficiaries will receive a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). This increase will raise the average monthly retirement benefit by approximately $75, bringing the average payment to $2,170.

Beneficiaries wishing to view their official 2027 COLA notices online through their personal accounts must establish a profile by November 18, 2026. Those who do not set up digital access will receive their notifications by mail in December. The agency also advises recipients to check with their financial institutions first if an expected deposit does not appear immediately, as processing times can vary.
